Amar Mitra

Amar Mitra is a Bengali fiction writer and recipient of the Sahitya Akademi Award (2006) for his novel Dhruboputra and the Bankim Award (2001) for Aswacharit. His works, including Aswacharit, Dhanapatir Char, and Radcliff Line, explore history, folklore, and social realities. In 2022, he became the first Indian language writer to win the O. Henry Prize for his short story Gnaoburo. He represented India at the First Forum of Asian Writers in Kazakhstan (2019) and has been a featured speaker at festivals like the Times LitFest.
