
M J Warsi
Prof. M. J. Warsi, renowned linguist and former Chairperson of the Department of Linguistics, AMU, is widely respected for his scholarship, teaching, and leadership. He has served at leading U.S. universities, authored over a dozen books, and published extensively in applied linguistics. His pioneering work includes the first grammar of Mithilanchal Urdu (2014). Recipient of several national and international awards, including the James McLeod Faculty Award, Colin P. Masica Award, and M. B. Emeneau Scholar of Excellence Award, he has also received prestigious research grants from the University of Chicago, University of Michigan, and UC Berkeley. Currently, he serves as President of the Linguistic Society of India, continuing to inspire and advance linguistic research
