A. Revathi is a prominent writer, theatre artist, and activist from the hijra community, known for her pioneering work in transgender rights and literature. Beginning her journey with Sangama in 1999, she went on to become its director in 2008, working extensively in advocacy, training, and community mobilization. Her acclaimed autobiographies The Truth About Me (Penguin) and Our Lives, Our Words have been translated into multiple languages and included in university curricula worldwide. Revathi has performed in acclaimed plays like Baduku Bayalu and Vellai Mozhi, as well as feature films such as Navarasa and Antharam. Honored nationally and internationally, including recognition by Columbia University, she continues to inspire through her writing, activism, and performances.
