Mukul Kumar

Sh. Mukul Kumar is a civil servant, novelist, and poet belonging to the 1997 batch of the Indian Railway Traffic Service. He currently serves in the Railway Board under the Ministry of Railways, where he contributes to public administration alongside his literary pursuits. Alongside his bureaucratic career, he has established himself as a noted contemporary writer with several well-received works of fiction, including As Boys Become Men, Seduction by Truth, and Lost in the Love Maze. His writing often explores themes of identity, human relationships, and social transformation. He has also ventured into historical non-fiction with his latest work, Women in the Womb of Time: Unveiling Ancient Feminism (2026). As a poet, he has published collections such as The Irrepressible Echoes and Catharsis. His recent poetry collection, Rhythm of the Ruins, was recommended for the Sahitya Akademi Award in 2024. Expanding his literary reach, he has also translated his debut English novel As Boys Become Men into Hindi, published as Aarohi. Mukul Kumar is an active participant in major literary platforms across India, including Unmesha (Bhopal), Sahitya Aaj Tak (Delhi), and the Jaipur Literature Festival. He is also a Life Member of The Poetry Society (India). His contributions to both public service and literature have earned him several honours, including the National Award for outstanding service in Indian Railways, the Bharat Nirman Award for literary excellence, the Srijan Shikhar Puraskar for Aarohi, and the Poorvanchal Gaurav Samman for his combined impact as a bureaucrat and writer.
