Tripurari Sharan is a former civil servant from the Indian Administrative Service. During a career spanning nearly four decades he has served as the Director of Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune for more than four years and as the Director General of Doordarshan for three years. He has contributed to several national and international symposia/conferences on cinema and other audio-visual medium. He has been closely associated with the world of Hindi literature. His debut novel 'Madhopur ka Ghar' has been published in 2023 by Rajkamal Prakashan and it has been translated into English by Arunava Sinha. ("Our Madhopur Home", published by Simon and Schuster.) His second novel in Hindi ("Antim Ashray") has just been published by Setu Prakashan this year. He retired as the Chief Secretary of Bihar. Currently he is serving as State Chief Information Commissioner, Bihar.
