Upen Rabha Hakacham is a celebrated Assamese writer, folklorist, and a linguist from Assam. Renowned for his prolific works on Rabha language, folklore, and north-east Indian cultural heritage, he has authored and edited over two dozen influential books spanning folk literature, creative essays, and ethnographic studies. His writings beautifully capture the traditions, languages, and everyday lives of Assam’s diverse communities. He has received numerous awards for his literary contributions, and his role in preserving and promoting the region’s vibrant oral and written traditions.
A former Secretary of the Bihar Sangeet Natak Akademi, he holds a Master’s degree in Hindi and a Film Appreciation diploma from FTII, Pune. His accolades include the State Award for Best Youth Writer (1988).
Shri Anupam has edited Bihar ke 100 Ratn and Bihar Vihar, and is a regular columnist for several leading publications, contributing incisive commentary on cinema, culture, and the arts.
