Suryabala is a Hindi novelist, short story writer, satirist, and essayist with an M.A. and Ph.D. in Hindi from Kashi Vidyapeeth, Varanasi. Over five decades, she has authored six novels, twelve short story collections, four satire volumes, a memoir, and a children’s novel. Her works, marked by simplicity, sensitivity, and philosophical depth, include Mere Sandhipatra, Agni Pankhi, Kaun Des Ko Vasi Venu Ki Diary, and the celebrated story Gaura. Many of her writings have been translated, adapted for television, and awarded nationally. She is the recipient of numerous honors, including the Maharashtra Sahitya Akademi Award, Bharati Gaurav Samman, and the Bharat-Bharati Award.
