His Excellency, Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali

His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali is the 9th Executive President of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana. A statesman, urban planner, and public administrator, he is recognised for his leadership in national development, economic transformation, sustainable growth, and regional cooperation. He has led Guyana during a period of rapid economic expansion driven by the country's emerging energy sector.

Born on 25 April 1980 in Leonora, West Coast Demerara, Guyana, Dr. Ali completed his early education in Guyana before pursuing higher studies in business, finance, law, and planning. He holds a Doctorate in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of the West Indies, along with degrees from the University of Sunderland, Anglia Ruskin University, and the University of Salford. He entered Parliament in 2006, served as Minister of Housing and Water and Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce. He was sworn in as Guyana's 9th Executive President on 2 August 2020 and re-elected for a second term in 2025.
