Sh. Conrad K. Sangma

Shri Conrad K. Sangma is the 12th and current Chief Minister of Meghalaya and National President of the National People’s Party. He is recognised for his leadership in governance, sustainable development, entrepreneurship, tourism, and economic growth.

Born on 27 January 1978 in Tura, West Garo Hills, he is the son of the late P. A. Sangma, former Speaker of the Lok Sabha and former Chief Minister of Meghalaya. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Entrepreneurial Management from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and an MBA in Finance from Imperial College London. He entered active politics in 2008, serving as Finance, Power and Tourism Minister before becoming Leader of the Opposition. He was elected to the Lok Sabha from Tura in 2016 and sworn in as Chief Minister on 6 March 2018, returning for a second consecutive term after the 2023 Assembly elections. Alongside his governmental responsibilities, he has been actively involved in educational, environmental, and youth development initiatives through the P. A. Sangma Foundation.
