Sh. Pema Khandu

Shri Pema Khandu is an Indian politician serving as the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh. A senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party, he is one of the longest-serving Chief Ministers in the state’s history, recognised for his leadership in governance, infrastructure, borderarea development, tourism, and sustainable growth.

Born on 21 August 1979 in Gyangkhar village, Tawang district, he belongs to the Monpa community. He completed a B.A. (Honours) in History at Hindu College, University of Delhi. He began his political career assisting his father, the late Dorjee Khandu, a former Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh. He entered the state cabinet in 2011, holding portfolios including Rural Works, Tourism, Civil Aviation, and Art & Culture. He became Chief Minister on 17 July 2016 and has since led the state through multiple administrations, focusing on infrastructure, connectivity, education, and economic development.
