Sh. Yumnam Khemchand Singh

Shri Yumnam Khemchand Singh is an Indian politician and public administrator serving as the 13th Chief Minister of Manipur. A senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party, he has previously served as Speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly and held key ministerial portfolios. He is also known for his contribution to the promotion of Taekwondo in India.

Born on 1 March 1963 in Singjamei, Imphal West, he entered public life after establishing himself in Taekwondo, where he earned recognition as a coach and administrator. He was elected to the Manipur Legislative Assembly from the Singjamei constituency in 2017 and was chosen as Speaker, serving until 2022. He later became a Cabinet Minister handling Municipal Administration, Housing and Urban Development, Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, and Education. On 4 February 2026, he was sworn in as Chief Minister, leading the state government following the end of President’s Rule.
