Shri Bhuchung D. Sonam is an acclaimed Tibetan poet, writer, translator, and publisher whose work gives voice to the experience of Tibetans living in exile. Born in a remote village in Tibet in 1972, he fled to India as a child refugee and rebuilt his life through education and literature.
His writing reflects a deep knowledge of Tibetan history, culture, and identity, and of the emotional impact of displacement. Through poetry, essays, and translation he has worked to preserve Tibetan language and stories for future generations. As co-founder of TibetWrites and its publishing imprint Blackneck Books, he has helped publish the work of dozens of Tibetan writers, creating a global platform for contemporary Tibetan literature.
