An alumnus of St. Stephen's College, University of Delhi, Shri Gaurav C. Sawant is Senior Managing Editor and anchor at India Today TV and Aaj Tak, anchoring the prime-time 8 p.m. show on India Today TV and the 4 p.m. show on Aaj Tak on weekdays.
He has covered conflict in Israel, Lebanon, Iraq, Ukraine, Russia, and Libya, as well as the Jasmine Revolution in Tahrir Square, Egypt. He is the author of Dateline Kargil: A Correspondent's Nine-Week Account from the Battlefront, and has written on the valour of Param Vir Chakra awardees as part of the Veer Gatha series. He has been with the India Today Group since 2008. In December 2007 he was awarded his wings by the Indian Navy, and has completed five para jumps at INS Dega, Visakhapatnam, along with an assisted free fall and a tandem jump. He became the first journalist to reach Daulat Beg Oldi in the midst of the India–China stand-off, reporting on the 255-kilometre DS-DBO strategic road. He also hosts a popular podcast on security affairs, Chakravyuh.
