Ms. Jhumpa Lahiri is an American author of Indian descent, celebrated for her novels, short stories, and essays. She is known for elegant writing exploring immigration, identity, family, belonging, and cultural heritage, and is one of the most respected contemporary writers in English.
She won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 2000 for Interpreter of Maladies, and has also received the PEN/Hemingway Award, the Frank O'Connor International Short Story Award, and the National Humanities Medal.
