Former IAS Officer and Union Minister
Shri K. J. Alphons comes from a village that had no electricity and is the son of a schoolteacher. He scored 42 per cent in his board examinations, later cleared the civil services examination, and went on to a distinguished career as an IAS officer, in the course of which he was featured in Time magazine's list of 100 young global leaders. He has served as a Member of the Legislative Assembly, a Member of Parliament, and a Union Minister in the Government of India. He is the author of three books: Making a Difference (Penguin, 1996), Accelerating India (OakBridge, 2023), and The Winning Formula (Bloomsbury, 2025).
