Prof. M J Warsi

Prof. M. J. Warsi, a renowned linguist and former Chairperson of the Department of Linguistics at Aligarh Muslim University, is widely respected for his scholarship, teaching, and leadership. He has served at leading universities in the United States, authored over a dozen books, and published extensively in applied linguistics. His pioneering work includes the first grammar of Mithilanchal Urdu (2014).
A recipient of several national and international awards, including the James McLeod Faculty Award, the Colin P. Masica Award, and the M. B. Emeneau Scholar of Excellence Award, he has also received research grants from the University of Chicago, the University of Michigan, and UC Berkeley. He currently serves as President of the Linguistic Society of India.
