IAS Officer & Former Principal Secretary to LG, Jammu & Kashmir
Shri Nitishwar Kumar is an IAS officer of the 1996 batch, UP cadre, presently posted as Additional Secretary and Financial Adviser in the Ministry of Women & Child Development. He previously served as Principal Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir from September 2020 to September 2022, concurrently serving as CEO of the Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board. He also headed the J&K Film Development Council and launched the union territory's new film policy in 2021.
He has served in the departments of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation, Railways, Communications, Power, Renewable Energy, and Basic Education in the Government of Uttar Pradesh and the Government of India, and began his career as Collector and District Magistrate in various districts of Uttar Pradesh.
He is also a lyricist, singer, and poet. His poetry collection Kah Do Na was a bestseller on release. He has directed a commercial regional film, for which he also wrote the story, screenplay, and dialogue, and his songs have been released by T-Series. He is a regular participant in literature festivals.
