Shri Shahbaz Haqbaaree (born Shahbaz Khan on January 3, 1958) is a distinguished Kashmiri scholar, poet, mathematician, and educator. Popularly known as the “Zero Man of India,” he is recognised for his ability to bridge mathematics with Sufi mysticism. His academic and literary contributions have earned him recognition across Jammu and Kashmir.
Shahbaz Khan was born in the remote village of Kosam Baagh Hakbara in the Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir. Growing up in the Sonawari region, he developed an early interest in mathematics and Kashmiri literature.
He earned a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Mathematics and a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.). He also received further training at the national level, building a career dedicated to improving the standard of education in the region.
